Rustom Bharuchas act talks about pandemic and the state of Theater during pandemic. In this 9 episode reading act, he deals with few fundamental questions regarding the pandemic. He looks at the scenario of pandemic through history to enquire what made the theatres close for longer haul or what kept the theatres open during flu and war?! He then looks at design of Theater spaces and puts forth following points to rethink the black box theatre – natural air ventilation, staggered seating for social distancing, a flexible performance space and cleaning and sanitizing devices and systems which can follow after each show as pointers to create a safe theatre space. He then identifies attitude of impermanence, ecology, and humility as key to help break the boundaries while rethinking the black box theatre.
